Scott  and Thomas have worked diligently to create a new and exciting Summer Music Series. We'll showcase a wide range of performers, from saxophonist star, Dennis Tymoshenko, to jazz singer, Natasha D'Agostino, our very own Karaoke specialist and keyboardist, Eddie Lam, folk artists Samuel Romero and Jordyn Smith, to Sons of Granville (of course).

Offering original tastes of Malaysia fused with west coast flares that are lavish in flavour and unique in texture and aroma, Kaya is a true gastronomic delight!

With profound influences from Portugal, India, Indonesia, and China, Malaysian cuisine is diverse, complex and inviting. Come and experience this intriguing spectrum of flavours and culinary adventures.

About the Owner, Managing Director and General Manager: Scott Kwan

Scott was the General Manager of the renowned Banana Leaf since Day One. After eleven years of providing managerial service both up front and behind the scene, and playing a major role in opening branch restaurants, Scott moved on to opening and managing the two Tamarind Malaysian locations in New Westminster and North Vancouver.

A people-person who believes food and wine are the best tools to communicate with new and old friends, Scott appreciates the magic of ethnic cuisine and the art of pairing beer and wine with it. Scott understands the importance of the consistency in food quality and customer service. His diligent effort in designing an enhanced beverage menu brings Kaya's food and wine pairing approach to a higher level. "It is my professional and ethical duty to make sure we deliver the true joy of dining, day in and day out".

With two decades of experience in Malaysian restaurants, Scott envisioned Vancouver's potential in welcoming a new vogue Southeast Asian restaurant.

"2012 is the year my dream finally came true!" Scott has been working towards opening up his own restaurant, one that represents the wonderful asian food scene of Vancouver. "Kaya is our brain-child; you can call it the new trend of Malaysian cuisine. Kaya reflects the beautiful and always evolving west coast dining scene, a place where culinary authenticity meets fusion creation."
